    In episode 10, we feature Tara Chisholm, Head Coach of Canada's national women's Para hockey team and founder of Medicine Hat Adaptive Sport. The Alberta native and multi-sport athlete participated in various sports growing up and went on to coach girls U15 and AAA Hockey in Medicine Hat. In University she decided to get involved with Para sport and did volunteer stints in wheelchair basketball and Para hockey. After working with the national women’s Para hockey team in 2013, she was asked to be the head coach in 2014.

    Episode 9 features Annie Guglia, an Olympian, professional skateboarder and first female skateboarder to represent Canada at the Olympics. At 11-years-old she found a passion for skateboarding. Her talent didn’t go unnoticed and she became one of twenty women in the world who was invited to try out for the 2020 Olympics. Annie also shares how she’s developing opportunities to bring skateboarding to girls from diverse communities including Indigenous youth and why she’s using her platform to advocate for inclusion in sport for LGBTQ+ athletes.

    Episode 8 features Acacia Hill, professional ice skater and owner of the Brampton Hill Skating Academy. She is also the director of the Academy which is the first female Black owned skating school in Canada. Acacia talks about removing barriers for diverse youth in ice skating, the importance of representation and why subsidized programs can help increase the participation of girls in sport.

She also discusses inclusion for LGBTQ+ athletes and how she’s bringing hockey to Indigenous communities.

Her company HoopQueens is Canada’s first paid league for women’s basketball. In episode 4 she shares her experience building HoopQueens and why she’s removing barriers for women athletes, so they can have access to tools, resources and mentorship, as they navigate their athletic journey.
